Jeremy Butler has been appointed the new General Manager by the Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club the Sale Sharks with the former chief executive of Tranmere Rovers beginning work on his new assignment this week itself.
The 46 year old was running a sports media business for 20 years before being appointed as the chief executive of the League Two club and he completely transformer the fortunes of the club in his short time there. During his time at the club, he was the leader of the commercial team that oversaw a drastic rise in season ticket sales as well as the commercial revenue for the club and the Sale Sharks are hopeful that he will be able to weave a similar kind of magic with them as well.
Jonny Kennedy, the managing director of the club said that the club has taken a strategic decision to bolster its off field operations and believe Jeremy Butler is the right man to be trusted with those ambitions and he will play a lead role as they try to achieve those goals. He added that Butler’s track record for engaging fans, successful marketing initiatives as well as bolstering the commercial activities were major reasons for his appointment and the board believes he will become a key asset for the team in the long run.
